WDM PON EDFA is a CATV EDFA with an integrated WDM system, also known as an EDFA PON Combiner. WDM network design is a popular technology. Through the optical telecommunication network, EDFA is used to send optical signals over long distances.
Premlink PL2000x WDM PON EDFA can combine xPON optical signal and CATV optical signal into one fiber and send mixed signal to the end-users. As a result, bandwidth capacity has greatly improved. Each wavelength channel requires its own data stream; no extra fiber is required. WDM PON EDFA is the important optical equipment for speeding triple play network implementation.

Nowadays, the GPON and XGSPON technology is the most popular form of xPON.
Premlink PL2000x WDM PON EDFA is integrated with a WDM system that works with GPON/EPON optical signal (1310/1490 nm) or XGSPON/GPON Combo optical signal (1310/1490/1270/1577 nm from OLT and ONU). Additionally, CATV optical signal (1550 nm from CATV optical transmitter) is added and sent into one fiber to the end-user.

The integrated web browser on all PL2000x models is compatible with all commonly used web browsers. The interactive Web page menu is used to control and monitor the amplifier.

Hot-pluggable Power Supplies
There are two hot-pluggable power supplies. The other power supply can function automatically simultaneously with the failure of the first.

Basic Components of Premlink WDM PON EDFA/EYDFA
WDM PON EDFA/EYDFA mainly consists of the following components: EDF/EYDF, pump, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), optical isolator, and WDM PON combiner.
The simple amplification process is as follows: the signal light passes through the optical isolator, converges with the pump light at the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) point, and is coupled into the EYDF, driven by the pump, before being output through the optical isolator to complete the amplification process.
EDF/EYDF
It helps boost signals. When signal light goes through, it is amplified, and gain represents this amplification capability.
WDM
The process of combining optical signals with pump light and coupling them onto an optical fiber.
Optical Isolator
The optical isolator ensures that optical signals are only sent in the forward direction, and also prevents reverse transmission.
Pump Laser Diode
The pump source is a high-power diode laser capable of producing higher gain and output power.
WDM PON Combiner
It equally distributes output power to each channel and combines it with GPON / XGSPON signals.
The Role of WDM PON EDFA in RF Overlay on Combo PON
By distributing TV signals across FTTH networks, RF Video Overlay technology enables end users to get both digital and analog TV service.
When operators or providers use triple-play services (voice, video, and high-speed internet access), the wavelengths assigned to downstream data and telephony in combo PON architecture are 1490nm, 1577nm and upstream data by 1310nm, 1270nm.
Digital or analog, HDTV or VOD, any signal can be delivered using the 1550 nm RF wavelength by WDM PON EDFA. Three wavelengths can be added to a single fiber via PL2000x WDM PON EDFA and distributed to end users with the use of WDM technology.
Advantage of WDM PON EDFA Applications
It speeds up the development of fiber optic cable television and optimizing the system’s cost and structure. EDFA at the back and back of the cable optic transmitter can be used to increase optical power, adjust for link attenuation, and compensate for power loss caused by optical power allocation. Analog TV systems that use high-performance EDFAs can have link lengths of up to 200 km and up to four EDFA cascades. Premlink PL2000x WDM PON EDFA, when combined with GPON and XGSPON, enables multiple clients to share a transmitter and front-end while also accessing data services such as high-speed internet, significantly lowering system running costs.
