Technical FAQ: PL2000C Front-Access EDFA Amplifier
Q1: Why is “Front Access” important for data center or headend technicians?
A: Front-access means the dual power supplies and all fiber ports are located on the front panel. Technicians can perform maintenance, replace modules, or troubleshoot connections without accessing the rear of the rack, drastically reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
Q2: What is the benefit of the built-in Back Reflection Power Meter?
A: It allows real-time monitoring of the return loss from the fiber distribution network. This ensures that any faulty connectors or macro-bends that cause light reflection are detected early, preventing damage to the high-power pump lasers.
Q3: Does the PL2000C support optical input redundancy?
A: Yes. The PL2000C offers an optional internal Optical Switch. If the primary 1550nm signal drops, the unit automatically switches to the backup input in less than 10ms, maintaining uninterrupted service.
Q4: Is the touchscreen GUI easy to use for local management?
A: Absolutely. The PL2000C is equipped with a 3.5” color touchscreen LCD (2U version) that provides clear visual data on pump current, input/output levels, and alarm thresholds at a glance.
Integrating CATV with GPON,XGSPON or 50GPON?
If your network requires Triple Play service by combining CATV with GPON, XGSPON or 50GPON signals (1310/1490/1270/1577nm…..), we recommend our PON WDM EDFA Series
with integrated combiners for seamless OLT integration and simplified FTTx deployment.
