What is XGS-PON OLT?
XGS-PON OLT is an optical line terminal (OLT) used in XGS-PON technology. It is the essential part of passive optical network (PON) systems that is located at the operator’s headend. Its key functions include signal modulation, demodulation, multiplexing, and transmission. Signals from the core network can be converted to optical signals and transmitted to the optical network unit (ONU) via the optical distribution network (ODN). The XGSPON OLT transmits at 10G speeds at 1577nm using EML and receives at 10G APD. At the same time, XGS-PON OLT includes functions such as control, management, and distance measurement for user-side devices (ONU).
XGS-PON vs. GPON: Understanding the Evolution

The key difference between XGPON and GPON is that XGS-PON has symmetrical PON port uplink/downlink speeds of 10G each.
