Product Overview
PL1510A 1550nm optical transmitter is designed by Premlink that work in cable television networks and to transmit TV signals over lengths of up to 20 kilometers using optical network. It uses High-quality DFB lasers from ORTEL/EMCORE (USA) with very stable signal transmission. To modulate the output signal, PL1550A 1550nm direct modulation transmitter regulates the transmitting laser’s power directly. This solution allows you to lower its cost.
PL1550A series 1550nm optical transmitter can be configured on-site via the front panel with built-in LCD monitor, or remotely controlled and monitored. PL1550A supports for the SNMP protocol that enables the device to be easily integrated into the operator’s monitoring systems.

- Intelligent Monitoring System: Equipped with a front-panel LCD and a perfect auto-monitoring system that tracks laser bias, temperature, and RF input in real-time to prevent hardware failure.
- Remote Network Control: Fully supports SNMP and WEB GUI management via a standard RJ45 port, allowing seamless integration into existing operator NMS (Network Management Systems).
Technical FAQ: PL1550A 1550nm Optical Transmitter
Q1: Why choose a 1550nm direct modulation transmitter over 1310nm?
A: While 1310nm is standard for short hauls, a 1550nm optical transmitter allows for future integration with EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers). This direct modulation model provides a cost-entry point into the 1550nm window, though it is best suited for links up to 20km due to fiber dispersion limits.
Q2: What is the benefit of the built-in LCD monitor?
A: The front-panel LCD provides instant diagnostic data, including Optical Output Power, Laser Temperature, and Power Supply Status. This allows on-site technicians to verify the health of the 1550nm optical transmitter without needing a laptop or network connection.
Q3: How does the AGC range handle input signal variations?
A: The PL1550A features an AGC range of 78±5 dBµV. This compensates for fluctuations in the incoming RF signal from the combiner, maintaining a constant modulation index to ensure stable CNR and CSO/CTB performance across the entire HFC network.
